New York - Outgoing Major League Baseball Commissioner Alan "Bud" Selig admitted today that his insistence on moving the Houston Astros from the National League to the American League was the "stupidest thing I have ever done", and he issued an apology to the Astros and their fans. "I actually lost the Astros in a poker game bet with Bud Adams." Bud Adams is the former owner of the Houston Oilers NFL football team and possibly the most hated man in Houston. "I thought I had a good hand, but he beat me and I had no choice but to force the Astros to change leagues", Selig continued.

"I have messed up everything. The Astros have lost all of their fans. Their television network is a joke and virtually non-existent. With fifteen teams now in each league, at least one inter-league game is required to be played every day of the season. Inter-league games are ridiculous. How stupid is it that the Philadelphia Phillies of the National League had to play the Texas Rangers of the American League on Opening Day? That game was an embarrassment with a final score of 14-10. This whole thing is a disaster and I wish I could go back to the way things were. I am so sorry. If I only had not made that stupid bet, the Astros would still be in the National League."
