Sweet Mary Hattersley and Lissa Hattersley of Greezy Wheels at Threadgill's Old No. 1, Austin, Texas

Sweet Mary Hattersley and Lissa Hattersley of Greezy Wheels

Greezy Wheels performed for the first time in their long history at the original Threadgill's this past Friday night. Fiddler Sweet Mary Hattersley got her start in Austin in the early 1970's when she sat in with Kenneth Threadgill at the old Gulf gas station and honky tonk on North Lamar Blvd. She was soon "discovered" by future husband Cleve Hattersley and joined up with Greezy Wheels, one of the favorite bands of Armadillo World Headquarters founder Eddie Wilson, who now owns Threadgill's. The rest of the story is Austin music history.
